Open Learning College Quick Start Guide

Welcome to Open Learning College. To get you started quickly, please read the following information contained below. Please note that you will also find a great deal of useful information in your Study Guide and on the Open Learning College Website.

  • Make sure that all necessary paperwork is completed and returned as soon as possible to ensure that you can be enrolled accordingly. If you are paying by instalments, please complete the online instalment plan form. An incomplete forms will cause a delay in dispatch of your course or online access being given.
  • Check the learning pack to ensure that you have everything you need, if your course is being delivered in a paper format.
  • If you decide that the course is not for you, package the materials up securely and return within seven days for a refund.
  • You can get in touch with our student support advisors via email, phone, or WhatsApp for any queries or concerns you may have. We are always here to assist you.
  • When you are ready to start, set yourself realistic targets for completing and submitting your work. Do not rush as you will possibly miss key learning points to support your development. Please note: When we receive your completed enrolment forms you will be sent an action plan containing target dates.  These dates are an estimate only and you do have the full use of your 12 months tutor support.
  • If you are completing multiple, or bundled programmes, we would suggest that you complete work in one subject area before tackling a subsequent lesson.
  • Whatever the lesson, only submit module one to start with. This will provide you with useful feedback from your tutor that can be applied to the rest of the course. Your tutor will then guide you towards the completion of the remaining modules in your programme.
  • Complete your work to the very best of your ability. If you fail to put in the effort, you will not achieve the best learning experience.
  • If required, type up your notes to ensure that they presented effectively. Also check for grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Do not lift work directly from your underpinning knowledge workbook as this will not benefit your learning and you may be asked to resubmit the module.
  • When presenting work as your own, ensure it is appropriately referenced if you have obtained information from sources such as websites, journals, etc.
  • Before submitting any module, please ensure that all activities and questions are fully complete. Failure to submit appropriate completed work may result in your tutor asking you to resubmit the module, which will inevitably lead to a delay in the completion of your course.
  • Please bear in mind that you tutor will be working with several students and will prioritise work based on the date received and how the work is presented. If you send in more than is requested, it will take the tutor longer to mark your assignments and you will therefore have to wait longer for your feedback.
  • If you are sending your work as an attachment by email, make sure you have saved a copy for your own records. Ensure your work is identifiable to us and that the student’s name, module title(s) and activity numbers are recognisable. Failure to present your work correctly will delay you receiving feedback.
  • If you are asked to resubmit work, we suggest that you submit your resubmission with your next module and clearly identify your updated work.
  • When you have completed your course, please sign off your completion certificate..
  • If your course requires you to complete an end test, you will receive appropriate papers once you have signed and returned your completion certificate.
  • Providing us with feedback. Mistakes can happen when producing learning resource packs and if you spot an error or typo within your programme of study or any broken video links, let us know and we will ensure that it is corrected for future Students.
  • We are pleased to receive your feedback on your chosen course as this helps Open Learning College to consider amendments to our process and materials for the benefit of future Students. Additionally, if you have been pleased with your learning and are prepared to provide an online review, you will be added into a prize draw and also receive a 25% discount on future enrolments (when you pay in full).

We wish you all the very best with your studies and we trust you enjoy your learning experience.
