the Change Management (Level 3) course is divided into 10 modules.

Module 1: What is Change Management?
The first module will provide an introduction to the key concepts and issues relating to change management, and how these skills can be developed to implement change within a business or management structure. It examines the ways in which change evolves, and the change manager’s role in this process. The module concludes with a range of guidelines on putting change management into practice, looking at both issues faced and the characteristics of effective Change Management.

Module 2: The individual as a Change Manager
This unit considers the roles and responsibilities of the change manager. It will focus on the essential skills required in the role of change manager, with tips and techniques for successful management of change and goal-setting. The module will provide support for the following aspects of change management; change problem-solving, effective change resolution meetings, change interviewing and giving or receiving change-related feedback. Appropriate management tools are explored, including change landscape analysis.

Module 3: Change Structure and Environment
Module 3 involves student evaluation of change organisational structures and the diverse environments within which change organisations operate. This module examines recent trends and change integration. It also looks at how managers can analyse the effects and consequences of change, and anticipate future evolution and organisational development.

Module 4: Managing Change Processes
Module 4 develops understanding of the processes involved in managing change, including planning and strategy, the costs and budgets involved and the benefits of understanding the change processes of a business. Practical advice is provided on facilitation of workshops as a manager, in the context of process improvement through change.

Module 5: Managing Change Projects
This unit will examine the core elements of a change project. It provides a step-by-step breakdown of the key phases required for managing change projects successfully. Advice is given on funding change projects, and on quality assessment. The module provides guidance on establishing roles within change project teams and effective problem-solving to enable successful management of projects.

Module 6: Managing Change Diversity
This module examines the increasingly diverse UK, EU, US and global change mandates and the business case for managing by diversity-unification principles. The unit will consider key change issues and issues of legislation, including those related to common challenges and potential conflicts, as well as the diversity of international regulatory styles.

Module 7: Compliance and Change
This unit is about the relationship between compliance and effective change. Resources include a review of compliance-caused/affecting organisational changes, managing the change-compliance process, dealing with individual resistance and cultural issues, the use of coaching, mentoring and facilitation development. The module examines the opportunities and strengths provided by compliance, as well as the threats or individual or group resistance to change.

Module 8: Quality and Change
This section looks at quality assurance and considers how we measure quality and change. If you cannot measure it, you cannot improve it – this is part of a quality and change axiom. The use of change goals, related change performance indicators, service level agreements and benchmarking against all types of criteria will be considered, along with a review of quality-change management improvement.

Module 9: Audit and Change
An essential tool in evaluating the quality of change is the audit. This Change Management module outlines the use of audit objectives, related change-audit performance indicators, service level agreements and benchmarking will be considered, along with a review of audits and improvement through change management.

Module 10: Ethics and Change
This module presents recent trends in business ethics. Areas examined include corporate governance, environmental issues and social responsibility, all of which are a growing concern for organisations. Practical advice is provided with tips and guidance on developing effective Change Management presentations, with a focus on ethics. To conclude the programme of study, the student will undertake a course review to reflect on their learning. This will provide an opportunity to set medium-term and long-term career goals.

Management consultants help organisations to solve issues, create value, maximise growth and improve business performance. They use their business skills to provide objective advice and expertise, and help an organisation to develop any specialist skills that it may be lacking.

You’ll be concerned primarily with the strategy, structure, management and operations of a company. Your role is to identify options for the organisation and suggest recommendations for change, as well as advising on additional resources to implement solutions.

Types of work can include:

* e-business
* financial and management controls
* human resources
* information technology
* marketing
* supply chain management.

Consultancy firms range from those that offer end-to-end solutions to smaller or more niche firms that offer specialist expertise and skills in certain industry areas.

Responsibilities
As a Management Consultant, you’ll need to:

* carry out research and data collection to understand the organisation
* conduct analysis
* interview the client’s employees, management team and other stakeholders
* run focus groups and facilitate workshops
* prepare business proposals and presentations
* identify issues and form hypotheses and solutions
* present findings and recommendations to clients
* implement recommendations or solutions and ensure the client receives the necessary assistance to carry it all out
* manage projects and programmes
* lead and manage those within the team, including analysts
* liaise with the client to keep them informed of progress and to make relevant decisions.

Salary

* Starting salaries for junior consultants can be in the region of £25,000 to £33,500 with large firms. However, smaller consultancies may offer lower levels of pay and salaries do vary greatly depending on the location, type and size of consultancy.
* With around three to five years’ experience, it’s possible for management consultants to earn up to £50,000.
* At senior level, with significant experience, it’s possible to earn up to £125,000. This is especially true if profit share and performance bonus schemes are available.
* After considerable experience, management consultants can work on a consultancy basis, charging a considerable day rate or project fee.

Other benefits may include car allowances, private health insurance, pension schemes, life insurance, on-site gyms, childcare vouchers and interest-free season ticket loans.

Working Hours

Consultancy work can be demanding and involves long hours beyond 9am to 5pm, with extra work having to be carried out for large projects and to meet deadlines. However, your hours will depend on the firm and type of project.

Firms are paying increasing attention to work/life balance by offering family-friendly benefits, for example, flexible working, part-time working, working from home and enhanced maternity and paternity leave. Some encourage career breaks or secondments in other roles or outside the company.

Freelance work is also possible, with substantial experience and good contacts.

What to expect

* Consultancy involves a high level of responsibility and pressure. There can be some stress as there will be tough targets and tight deadlines to meet.
* Consultants can spend considerable time travelling between client sites in the UK. As they need to be based in clients’ offices, considerable time away from home may be required if the site isn’t local.
* Work can be carried out on an international level, with many client organisations having offices overseas. This can provide opportunities for travel and work abroad.
* Consultancy firms have a strong commitment to diversity. Initiatives such as targeted graduate recruitment, internal mentoring and diversity networks to support people from under-represented groups have been established.
* Self-employment is an option after you have spent a long time in a conventional, corporate, salaried position and have acquired significant knowledge of the market place and/or industry.

Career prospects

As a new graduate you’ll usually begin your management consultancy career in an analyst role, mainly carrying out research, data collection and analysis. Once you’ve gained some experience, you’ll move on to the full consultancy role.

From here you’ll typically progress to senior consultant or manager level, and this is usually achieved within about three years. At this level you will lead teams and design and develop solutions and projects.

It’s also possible to take on project management roles, perhaps specialising in a certain industry to become an expert in that area.

Once you reach senior consultant or manager level, you can go on to become a partner or director of a firm where you’ll have responsibility for generating new business, developing client relationships and overseeing the strategic growth of the firm.

This means that you won’t have to worry about memorising information for a final exam. Our online platform allows you to access the course from anywhere and at any time, and you can also choose to receive the course materials by post.

When you complete each module, you will submit your assignments and quizzes online for marking. While there is no word count requirement for these assignments, we do expect well-thought-out and complete answers. Your tutor will provide constructive feedback and guidance on areas for improvement to help you achieve your best performance.

Once your assignments have been verified and assessed, you will be awarded a certificate of achievement from the Open Learning College. This certificate confirms that you have met all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the Change Management (Level 3), and demonstrates your competency and knowledge in this field.

Course Qualification - What qualification will I receive?

This is a dual-certification course and you will therefore receive two qualifications. This course is certified by Open Learning College via the Open Pathway Accreditation Programme.

This course leads to a Level 3 for successful learners. This means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 3 on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) for England.

This qualification has been developed by Open Learning College to meet the specific needs of our learners and has been accredited by QLS demonstrating the learning activity has reached the required Quality Licence Scheme standards and benchmarks.

The Quality Licence Scheme recognises a provider’s commitment to high-quality courses in the non-regulated sector, by evaluating quality processes and endorsing an organisation. This demonstrates to the people you work with that there is a commitment to delivering a high quality of learning and learners are able to receive an endorsed Certificate of Achievement upon completion of their course.

Grading & How it Works

The UK has a unique higher education grading system. Its most unique feature compared to traditional grading systems is that it aims to be more specific in describing students’ academic achievement.

Since it is proved to be such an efficient tool to assess students’ performance, many foreign countries like Canada, Australia and India are using the same grading system on some occasions with small changes to fit into their own local educational context.

We use a letter grade scale from A to F to indicate the students’ academic performance. If you get an A it means you have shown outstanding knowledge whereas if you get an F it means your score is not sufficient to pass the exam.

How does distance learning work?

To ensure studying is flexible and convenient, most of our courses are divided into modules. You work through each module at your own pace and time. Once completed, submit the test, quiz, or assignment for marking. The support period is dependent on the type of course you choose; our minimum support period is one year.

When can I start the course?

The answer is simple, when YOU want; you can start the course at any time we do not have any set enrolment dates. Most of our courses don’t requireany previous experience or qualifications. All you need is a desire and motivation to succeed. You can even start right now – call and speak to one of our Course Advisors.

How long does the course take?

This is dependent upon your choice of course and how fast you want to learn. A full breakdown of the course is available in the course brochure or online. We do provide estimated number of study hours; ask our course advisors for details.

Do the courses have tutorial support?

Yes, you will be allocated a tutor who specialises in your chosen subject and will guide you through the course, mark your assignments and generally help you with any problems you may have.

If I fail an assignment can I retake it?

Yes, your tutor will ask you to resubmit your assignment and give you support as to where you could improve.

How do I get help with my course work?

You can get help by submitting a question to your tutor via the online portal and by submitting your assignments for marking. You must send your assignments one at a time so the tutor can mark one and give you feedback.

Will I get a qualification at the end?

Our courses provide you with a dual certification upon successful completion of the course. You will receive an Open Pathway Accreditation (OPA.dip) from our college. The second qualification will be awarded by the Ofqual awarding body for the course.

Will I have to sit an examination?

Most of our courses do not require you to sit examinations, only continual assessments. Where there are examinations required, you will receive all the information you need to make your own exam arrangements. Please note exam fees are not included in your course fee, unless otherwise stated.

Do I have to buy any other materials?

Our comprehensive course materials are designed to be self-contained with all the relevant information you require to complete the course and gain the relevant certification. However, some of our students undertake additional reading via relevant textbooks/study guides and/or the Internet to add value to their studies.

1. Samsung Notes: Write, draw and highlight in a variety of styles and colours during your lectures and meetings

2. Google Drive: Great for collaborative working whether it’s a word document, spreadsheet or formal presentation. Find your documents in Google Drive where they are saved to the free Google cloud service.

3. myHomework: A digital planner that enables you to track classes, assignments, exams and group projects so you’ll be sure never to forget a deadline
